SD 04/5/03 "Brasiers, Bedroom-decor, and Burgertime" - *sigh* It never ends ...

That people loose things is nothing new. What's unusual when so many loose all of the same thing at the same time. What makes it still even more unusual is when it's of such a personal nature and the options of replacing it are suddenly narrowed.

Women all over the ship are reporting their undergarments disappearing. To add to the mystery, their replicators are unable to make any more aside from varieties of particualry skimpy lingere. The programing for anything else has strangely vanished with no way to trace who or what tampered with the machines. The only clues so far have been a single tooth with a rotten pulp inside, and a particular stench around some of the machines and in certain hallways, described as if something died. Nothing dead has been found, or any signs that someone tried to dispose of a dead animal at the replicators. In any event, the women are becoming less and less happy about the situation.

Less common but still annoying are some of the replicators having problems making any food other than tofu. After our last trip planetside, most of us have had enough of the sights and smells of the stuff for a while, let alone eating it. With the engineers busy with the 'lingere problem' and other malfunctions, some are trying to repair the codes themselves with varying results. Others are having their meals in Ten-Forward more often as so far, the replicator there is unaffected, as is the real food that's served since it requires no replicator.

Speaking of food, there was a holodeck malfunction that had some amusing results. It seems Demian was doing one of those "shoot-em-ups" when a malfunction turned it into some silly game where he ended up taking on a number of walking hot-dogs, eggs, and pickles. Lynx and Lott joined in the action. Someone alerted me to the malfunction, and I rushed there with a couple security to take care of the problem, but it seems they were able to "eat their way out" of this one, so to speak. They were laughing about the whole thing when I entered, and somehow a food fight started. Messy, but fun.

Now we got a lot more food in storage in case more replicators foul up. Hot-dogs with mustard and relish anyone?

Speaking of Lynx, it looks like things are looking up for her and Dammers. She asked me to allow her in his quarters for a "thank-you gift." She didn't say what it was, but I'm sure it's something he'll appreciate.
