SD 11/22/03 - "Is There a (Witch) Doctor in the House?" Thank God it's over!

I have no idea what the curse changed me into. But with some of the whispers and snickers I've noticed among the others, it may be best that I don't know. All I can recall is coming to, naked with only a cloth nearby that vaugley resembled a bikini bottom, but it was way too big even for Tarra. What the heck could it have been for?

What I've found out since, it seems the Shaman I bumped into was in posession of some alien technology, an analysis of the readings and it's appearance suggest a comparision to the "luck machine" once encountered on Deep Space Nine durring when Sisko was in charge. The Shaman had somehow come in possession of it, possibly passed down from generation to generation, and keyed its workings to his chants, in this case moulding living bodies to make a powerful curse come true. Even one device like these in the hands of the Mynesians would explain a few things about this planet.

Captian M'Rander was able to find out what happened from a recorder I had that was turned on when I bumped into the shaman. She then went planetside, found him, and beamed him up. How he was able to persude the shaman to call off the curse I haven't found out yet, but I did hear the shaman was given a just escort back to the transporter pad, carried by Tarra and T'Kee quite literally by the seat of his pants. Owie - I'll bet that lioncloth yanked like that left a hell of a wedgie.

The device itself was in the Shaman's drum, which he dropped when being taken off the ship. It was sent to Lera for analysis, but aside from recordings of it's use, we have found little aside from what the outer shell was made out of as somehow a large ammount of moth spittle and cloth shorted out the circuitry and fried it beyond recognition. Oh well, it should make an interesting exhibit in some museum.

In any event, our diplomatic mission is over, and we have just revieved some great news. We have finally gotten official shoreleave on Risa! I suppose we could have had it here, or rather continued it, but after that curse everyone is more than happy to get away, especially to Risa. The news seems to have struck Lynx and Dammers particuarly well. Last I saw them, they were together and smiling & happy.

Now if I can just take care of one little problem - the computer no longer seems to recognize me. I can't get a new uniform from the replicator that fits perfectly, I can't just order "the usual" for a snack, and I'm limited to the PADD for log entries for now. Nothing new, as similar bugs are always cropping up.

But what I want to know is, why does it keep calling me "a pain?"
