SD 06/28/03 "Flippin' the Bird" aka "MiT - Men in Trek" #7 - Looks like we have a new crewman, and this one is certainly, different.
While in Oaklahoma, we got a call from M'Rander. She needed Tempres to help with some problems concerning the wormhole and apparently a shuttlecraft had dropped off a replacement crewman that M'Rander thought could be handy for us, a communications officer. It was decided Melvin would probably be most comfortable back on a starship, and Ennin was still sore from his accident, so the three of them beamed up, and the new crewman beamed down. Not a human, but a sapient avian: a Skorr. Her name was T'Kee Ashwia, and was a transfer from another ship. She was very polite in her greeting, notably with the bow. A great contrast to the belches and "where's the grub" I've heard from a few uncouth yeoman with devil-may-care attitudes. A most welcome new addition.
In a galaxy full of humans and humanoids, sapient avians are not very common, and only two have made it to Federation membership, the Aurelians, noted for their stone sculpture and their society having produced a number of historians, and the Skorr, whom in the past were a feirce warrior society but changed their ways to a more peaceful society.
T'Kee seems to be getting along with everyone just fine. Lera, whom has been fairly quiet most of the trip (aside from when she and I are alone), was acting more lively once again. Unfortunetly, with Lynx's turn behind the wheel, we seem to be having a little trouble with the van, and then Lynx and Lera got into a spat. It was strange as this time it was Lynx who was crying and going "meeeeaaan to meee." There's the strong smell of gasoline and talk of "flooding" the engine. We may be here for a while ...
I think I see a car coming down the road. Maybe they can help us.
NARRATIVE: The car is driven by MiB agents, one of whom pulls a big laser rifle out and shoots at the team. It's a chaotic scene as fur and feathers fly along with the laser and phaser beams. A farmer's chicken truck gets caught in the middle and blasted open, several of the fowl turned into rotissere' as they make a "Chicken Run" away. Captain Lee is knocked out (again), and the MiB capture him before turning tail and rocketing away in the transformed car.
