SD 11/29/03 - "Pregnant Pause" There have been Terran-Caitian matches before, but none ever produced any kids ... until now.

It's been about a week since the ... unpleasantness at Planet Mynesia. Unfortunetly for some of us, the "Curse of Unga-Munga" continues to have lasting effects. For me personally, Starfleet changed my name! Or rather, some computer foul-up did. Being called "Captain Payne" has been ... well, a pain. To top it off, the replicators even under my new identity still can't give me a custom-fit uniform. And my instructions just can't seem to produce exacctly the right fit.

But it seems I'm not the only one with a permanent reminder. When I went to Medical to ask if anyone saw my tricorder (it turned out one of Lynx's kids had it), Lynx left with a perplexed expression. Some talk went back and forth about the curse, and then came the bombshell ...

Lynx is pregnant.

Terrans and Caitians are genetically incompatable. So the only way this could have happened was if she and Dammers, in their Kzinfied states, were ... "romantically engaged." Not sure how much this affected his mind, I doubt Dammers is going to get a chewing out by anyone save Lynx later in her pregnancy, but everyone is expecting him to do the honorable thing, which he appears willing to do. Still that pained expression I occasionaly see on him clearly states he'd rather be doing this a little later. My joke about whether we needed a shotgun or not nearly made him jump to the ceiling. M'Rander, she was so happy, she ordered Ten-Forward to serve real alcoholic beverages for the next hour.

At least we're headed to the right place for marriages. Risa, not unlike Las Vegas centeries ago on Earth, gets people from all around who go there just to marry, or at least have the honeymoon. So the environment should be just perfect.

Dammers mentioned one possible clould that may rain on him and Lynx: Admiral Ironbottom. The turkey ordered him to keep an eye on her and send occasional reports. He may conclude Dammers took things a little too far and unleash some repurcussions.
