SD 09/25/04 - "Do you Believe in Magic? #4" aka "I See Crazy People" All that hope, and in the end just a few vauge clues.

Perhaps I put too much faith in the Magicks. Then again, very little has been going our way lately. Well, aside from getting Halfpipe back. One dose of Lera's Junk cure, and she was back to her half-Klingon self.

The seer's clues are usually rather cryptic, open to a variety of interpretations. When I looked in, wondering if anyone besides Ironbottom was trying to cause trouble for us, what I got was the number "42." 42? What the hey could that mean? What could that number have to do with who wants to cause us trouble? Is it the number of individuals? Is it the number of days until they strike?

More troubling was that when Half looked in the crystal ball, she saw someone in a Starfleet uniform tampering with the computer. Sabotage? We had already investigated for signs of it and found no real signs of it. Yet, here we are being told this is what happened.

When asked to help find missing crewmen, the results were not encouraging. Asked to find a clue to Treki's whereabouts, the seer asked us to join hands around the crystal ball. Asked to find Treki, the seer could find nothing. Perhaps it was because it has been a few years since her disapperance. She mentioned she'd have a better chance if someone especially close was in the circle. So before asking her about M'Rander and Dammers, I commed Lynx about the matter.

Lynx's behavior recently has been a little ... erratic, along with Tarra's. One might say they're starting to take a little after Lera now. In this Caitian body from the junk water, Lott's scent was fairly strong on them. And now they way they were fawning over Lucin. Then again, perhaps it's hormones from the pregnancy. Still, it was surprise the response I got when I commed her, "I have all the family I need."

Considering Lynx's history of men up and disappearing on her, I guess I can't blame her assuming the worst about Dammers. But her Mother? Something's not right.

Anyway, we went ahead and made another circle. This time we saw a couple images. One was that of an elderly Caitian in a cryo pod. There was nothing else in the room we could see to help identify where she might be. The other image was vauge, but it looked like someone in a straitjacket. I couldn't make out the face very well, but the man appeared deranged.

Well, at least we have clues, but vauge ones that point to sad fates. Poor Dammers, poor M'Rander.

With that behind us, attention turned to the Freedom's computer, and the one Lucin told would be sent to help fix it. Calling the ship, we got some bad news. Then sent an exorcist all right, but an "apprentice" exorcist. It was fairly obvious this would be his first job on his own.

This does not bode well.
