SD 02/26/05 - "Harem Scarem" aka "The Wrath of Ironbottom #10"What was the point of that?

Was it their way of showing off some of the Kzin's culture, some kind of practical joke, or maybe something of both.

Anyway, before that, I went to talk to Tara about Demian, with Lera following. I mentioned to Tarra about the computer program surviving, and Tara's response was wanting it promptly spaced. I admitted I was tempted to, but we may need it's testimony if Ironbottom sent his list of charges to Starfleet. With both it and Ben Dover, we should be able to squash all the charges. Well, everyone but that one of mine ...

Anyway, we soon ran into Lynx, who must have been pondering the same thing. She openly suggested that I consider defecting to the Kzin Hegemony! I was stunned by such a suggestion. Perhaps it's my loyalty to the Fereration and it's ideals, even though it doesn't always live up to them as New California demonstrated and the thankless beauracracy demonstrates time and time again. Then again, the thought of she and Tara possibly being lombotimized sure didn't help matters any. Why would she make such a suggestion? Perhaps she was worried as am I about the guys from New California we deposed and the friends they have in the government, and how some would love to have a chance at payback.

But is our situation truly that dire? Have I become so paranoid of the flunkies from New California and Ironbottom that I've lost trust in our government?

I spoke some of those feelings to Lynx, who responded that I had to take in consideration my responsibilities to the crew, "My duty as Counsellor, Sir, is to fill you in with options. You have the duty to Starfleet, butyou also have the duty to the crew of this ship. Choose well Sir."

She then asked if she could have the old "harem room" as her quarters here. I responded she could, then asked if I wanted to help "subdue the residents." I asked if there were some of those "space herpes" rodents and maybe a Proto-syndrome case in there. She then grinned, "No, the Captian's Harem you inherited," and led us all in. What followed was what to me looked like a scene from an action holovid, Lynx and Tara taking painsticks, and forcing holoimages of Kzin females to submit.

It was a relief when Cosmo called, telling me my exam was next.

What that was all about? I doubt she would make some kind of joke after a serious matter. Maybe it was some kind of artistic display. I know little of some of the finer points of the Kzins' culture, and despite it's treatment of females the half-Caitian embraced it. A puzzle within a puzzle.

Not wanting to insult her, I made an apology for my being needed elsewhere and complimented on her and Tarra's work on the holographics. Lera seemed to vanish as soon as they appeared. Good grief, what is she going to do if I ever become indisposed?

On my way to medical, I do admit to wondering what he'll find. With my hair starting to get gray, my feet aching a lot, my back and muscles starting to ache in more vigorous holodeck exercises, when I find the time to do them, I wonder if I'm starting to get old. Lera's naked bosom hasn't brought a, physical reaction, in over a year ... aside when I had the Junk curse. Then again, she flouts it so much, I've probably gotten used to it. Been feeling really tired a lot, having to keep drinking coffee throughout the day just to keep going.

The Captiancy, what everyone with a career in Starfleet hopes for, and in my case it may be bringing it to a medical discharge.

.....

*ADDITION* - Cosmo says I'm more or less okay, though will need a few shots of something, but wants me to cut back on the coffee. How am I going to get through the day?

He also gave me another bit of news. It appears I no longer have to worry about Lera drugging me to make her pregnant. Oh well, I -

Slag! The scanners just detected a Borg shuttle headed our way. We've got trouble!
