SD 11/05/05 - "Predicaments and Promotions" - It's amazing what a nice long hot shower can do for one's well-being.
It's even better when one gets great news to go along with it.
Just as I finished putting on the first good clothes I had in almost three weeks, I got a visit from Admiral M'Kasa. I was in a better mood than earlier, and was able to calmly bring up the killer bunnies that weren't in any of the fauna descriptions, the smaller shuttle, the Caitian psycho-ward restraint suits, and what the three put together implied. M'Kasa was honestly shocked and stated this was the first he had heard of the latter two and the first he thought was some kind of joke until I told him. He stated the shuttle and the suits were from this station, which meant either it's temporary commander, Admiral S'Cowl, or one of his underlings which he's still responsible for.
He brought some good news. To begin with, a whole series of promotions were approved. Melvin Orlan to full Lieutenant. Tarra Nebendi, Cosmos Ennien, Lott Tadtasi, and "Halfpipe" Holley to Lieutenant Commander. And K'Lynxyl Nebendi to full Commander, and at my recomendation given the position of Second Officer.
M'Kasa had some more good news which he wanted to give to them personally, suggesting Lera bring her kids and Lynx T'Sal & K'Tor. He has not told me what it is yet. Presumably it's the new ship. M'Kasa told me it's all but confirmed that he will be the new sector commander, and had a science vessel for crewing directed over here. He says this one will be an improvement over the buggy Cardinal class the previous ships were. And with him in charge, supplies and reliable personel will never be a problem.
An entirely new Freedom with a topnotch crew and never short of supplies. Oh the possibilites ... effort that we would have used jur-rigging, making constant repairs, and of course stressing over it all, we can put to use in our explorations.
Well, guess I'll go see how Tarra's doing. Last I heard, the antidote to her condition checked out and the docs were about to administer it. Wonder if it worked by now?
ADDITION: Tarra's more-or-less back to her old self. Trouble was, she found my good mood so hard to believe, she practically carried me over to Lynx to make sure I was okay. Apparently, they're satisfied now. In a light-hearted moment, I brought up to Tarra her and Lynx's "toys." Not sure what she found more shocking, that I knew about them or was willing to bring them up.
Was I really this uptight for so long? Had Ironbottom and then these trials and tests brought onto me such a heavy load that without it I'm a completely different person?
Well, we're on our way to the meeting room, where the others are waiting. After these promotions, we should all be in a good mood.
NARRATIVE - Lott joins Lera in the shower, and Droolin ends up leaving a bad taste in her mouth, from shampoo. Half, perhaps still wound up from the S.U.R.V.I.V.O.R. test, engages in some Klingon calestenics in the holodeck.
