SD 08/14/04 - "When Psycho Kitties Attack" I'm starting to get used to this Caitian body, though the ship still has the same old craziness. Or rather, same new craziness. Both Lera and Lott agree it needs strong measures. Lera feels it needs replacement or a total reformatting. Lott simply says replace it. Either way, it bugs the heck out of everyone. It's even started to speak in Demian Tempres voice, "since you consider us both crazy."
That thing is deliberately going out of its way to get on our nerves.
Unfortunetly, the computer's not the only thing off its rocker. When I was going over a PADD in the hallway, I felt something sink it's teeth into that darn Caitian tail! It was Kura. Saying it "attacked" him and he was hungry, I angrily told him to go to Ten-Forward or a hunting program in the holodeck. Kura expressed disinterest, then remarked, "You're a carnivore now, right? ... Let's go eat the crew." Shocked, I managed to maintain my composure and talk him to following me. I took him to Medical for the EMH to look over before going to tend to the business about the daffy computer.
But just after we entered sickbay, it was like the room began spinning around. Despite their catlike appearance, I once again found out the hard way Caitians do not always land on their feet. It was a comical scene as the holographic doc stood over me, wondering if I had somehow psychicly predicted an injury and came here to have it. I got to the matter at hand, and the Doctor got the point when Kura made another "eat the crew" remark. It's probably some hormonal disturbance or something, like with Lera when she clobbered Lynx at Risa, but that's for the doc to decide.
I then headed to the Bridge to tale care of matters dealing with the computer. On the way, there was another lurching, though not as bad as the first. Lera, along with Ennin, were on the Bridge when I got there. Lera and I talked about what to do about the computer, Lera wondering if Compy was back. The computer then spoke up, speaking in Demian's voice. Then the computer had another lurch, and I was almost thrown backward. It was then I noticed the Helm station was empty and under control from elsewhere!
I commed Orlan, and it turned out he was running some kind of experiment in the holodeck. Using the avian body the Junk water gave him, he was flying around in a three-dimensional space map, with the Freedom copying his movements. Unfortunetly, two things went wrong. He didn't consolt me, or Lott Taldasi or Lera who then would have talked to me, about what could go wrong. Then when he turned off the internal dampers in the holodeck, that malfunctioning computer turned them off all over the whole ship! That was why we were being tossed around like dice in a shaker. The computer wasn't through with us either. In the holodeck in created some screaching creature to attack Orlan and then laughed manaicaly as he apparently flew around in panic to get away from it, and therefore causing use to rattle around in the ship that was still controled by his movments.
That computer is not only crazy, it is getting downright dangerous.
Finally after some shouting, it settled down, and we resumed course to Megas-Tu, which we're almost at. Maybe I should go ahead and let Orlan continue his unorthodox experiment as we're so close already.
I should go ahead and make sure Lott is available for the Megans to speak to. I think someone told me Tarra was taking him to her & Lynx's room. I guess they want to make sure Lott's dealing with being a felinoid okay. Someone else reported some yowling from there, but that must've been from the computer shaking up the ship. What else could it have been?
