SD 08/28/04 - "Do you Believe in Magic?" aka "Getting Your Goat" We finally arrived at Megas-Tu. Our initial reception was cool, though the man they sent to personaly meet us seems more enthusiastic about us.
Approaching the wormhole, we were greeted by a not-too-friendly man wearing a cloak and hood on the viewscreen. He demanded to know why we were at Megas-Tu, and so we gave our reasons: help from a seer in finding our lost comrades, and help with that craxy computer. As expected, we were asked for something of use to them in return. Hearing of the Junkeskyo water got their attention, so we were allowed through - on the condition no humans were to set foot on the planet. Orlan finally woke up from the bump on the head the computer's tumbling around gave him, guess that new avian form courtesy of the Junk water, and piloted us down the wormhole to Megas-Tu.
It was just after we started going in that we got a message from Starfleet. Ennin was promoted to full Lieutenant. I gave him the good news, as well as the insignia pips on the Bridge. Some happy news for someone.
Once through, we got a message that our tech didn't normally work here, but most of our machines would be made to work by magical means - weapons excepted. I suppose that was expected of a world suspicious of humans. The man sent to greet us, however, wasn't so hostile to humans. He appeared presumably through magic teleport. At first, I thought he was wearing woolen pants. Then I noticed the horns and cloven feet, as well as the way the knees were bent. He was a saytr, or at least looked like one. He introduced himself as "Lucin," and gave us a greeting much friendlier than the "positively lukewarm" response from the previous two Majicks. He was genuinely pleased at our arrival, welcoming us to his world.
The bridge crew was polite and friendly in return, notably Lynx and Tarra who arrived just after Lucin did. Lynx is acting a little ... odd around him, but it's probably my imagination. Lera, however, seems unusually distant and sullen, almost depressed. Maybe a walk on the planet once our business is done will do her good. She keeps saying I owe her a date, and right now I don't feel so anxious about it.
Lott says he's trying to fix the computer, at least temporarily, the "dameon in the machine." Around here, that could take on new meaning.
