SD 11/14/04 - "Costume Party" Even at a party, I have trouble relaxing.
Not sure what else to wear, I got a uniform from last century with the insignia the Enterprise on it. I guess I just have a soft spot for what many call the "Golden Age." Lynx seemed to have similar feelings. She wore another "Classic" uniform, albeit a little wider around the midsection due to her condition. Tarra, always in good humor, did a "Tony the Tiger" outfit, from the cereal commercials of Earth of the 20th & 21st Centuries. Lott, in her female form, had on a Japanese "luku" with wings, I think someone called it a "Sailor Moon" costume. Ennin, in his black foxlike form, came in as a character from a 21st- Century comic, "Darrik" of "Akalee" I think someone called it after doing a database search. Orlan came in as a Borg, which really scared Engsin Benjamin Dover, who fell over a table in his clown suit. A couple men whose names have escaped me stumbled about in an older than old-fashioned two-person horse costume, the kind I'd seen only in film clips of early and mid-20th Century, one guy in the front end and the second bending over in the other. Someone told me they fell out of favor after TV dinners and fast food became popular. I wonder what's the connection?
A couple have been a bit disruptive with their costumes. Droolin came by as a flasher, wearing a trenchcoat and bare calves above his socks. Fake mustache and phony French accent too, "Madam, would you like to see a no-no?" I ought to have Tarra teach him a lesson, but the slaps from the girls, I'll leave that her judgment call. But why is there a "click" sound when he flashes? Something's not right, not that he was right to begin with.
Lera, typical for her, took the opportunity to go topless. I swear, I'll never understand her compulsion to brazzenly wave her naked bosoms in front of every man she sees. She justified wearing only a grass skirt, saying the natives at that one planet did as well. I reminded her only in a few places there did the women not wear tops, and lately the topless look has been seen less and less due to stories of it's effects on lechereous tourists. Lera didn't care, "It's the mens' problem." Unfortunetly at times such as on Risa, it has a way of becoming hers too.
Will she ever learn?
Lera left at one point. Upon seeing her, Lynx put a clear plastic bag of some orange-collored fluid, saying she had been with the kids and, "it came from one of yours." Lera, disturbed, shoved it back and left to find the holodeck they were at. As she didn't put on a top, I had the computer throw the "Cloud of Censorship" on her. Lynx then chided me, saying I was being "insensitive" to her concern over her kids. Lott made some comment about me "chasing the wrong women." Not sure what that meant as I haven't been skirt-chasing. Feeling my mental exhaustion, I openly commented on going on leave when we reach a Starbase. Orlan responded by choking on his punch, "That would make Lera the Captain! Your life is fine!"
I just can't get away from it.
I ended up drowning my sorrows in synthoholic punch, interrupted by some commotion. I thought I heard a "wack" sound, and when I turned, I saw the horse costume on the floor thrashing about as the two men inside were brawling. Tarra must have been trying to disclipine them. But why was she holding a stick and keep saying "pinata?" I saw no pinata. I went over just long enough to get them to break it up. Geez. As Lott remarked, a horse costume with two horses' ...
Well, I'll let Tarra handle them. Right now, the moon Lera and Orlan took samples from is starting to rise over the horizon of this Jovian world, and it seems the small amount of sunlight is hitting it just right. A picturesque sight I never get tired of.
Hmmm, I wonder why Orlan isn't feeling too good. It's like he's feeling worse as the moon rises higher.
